October reading on consumer sentiment from the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan was 67.2, down from 68.2 the prevoius month, falling in October to its lowest level since November 2009 Chevron (NYSE: CVX) is trading lower after the oil company reported the revenue that was stronger than expected, but profits that disappointed.
The Food and Drug Administration declined to approve Vivus (Nasdaq: VVUS) weight loss treatment Qnexa. However, the agency did request further study results.
VVUS is trading higher by about 25% at the moment.
Monster Worldwide (NYSE: MWW) announced a third quarter loss citing acquisition related costs, but the results beat analyst estimates. The parent company of Monster.com is currently trading higher by more than 20%.
