Nationstar Mortgage Holdings Inc (NYSE:NSM) 38.83 +5.60 (16.85%). Nationstar Mortgage Holdings Inc. (NSM ) said its wholly-owned unit, Nationstar Mortgage LLC, would acquire around $215 billion in residential mortgage servicing rights or “MSRs”, as measured by unpaid principal balance or UPB as of November 30, 2012, and certain other assets from Bank of America ( BAC ).
Molycorp Inc (NYSE:MCP) 11.56 +1.26 (12.23%). The company is seen as a potential takeover target because its shares are now priced under the value of its assets. Bloomberg News, last week, reports that the Greenwood Village-based company owns the biggest U.S. deposits of rare earths, used a variety of electronic devices and machines. But it also faces a price slump as well as the recent exit of CEO Mark Smith and an SEC probe over past public disclosures.
SolarCity Corp (NASDAQ:SCTY) 15.97 +1.57 (10.90%). Credit Suisse Group initiated coverage on SolarCity Corp. with an Outperform rating and $22.00 price target.
U.S. Silica Holdings Inc (NYSE:SLCA) 18.99 +1.84 (10.73%)
Walter Investment Management Corp (NYSE:WAC) 47.68 +3.63 (8.24%). Walter Investment Management Corp (WAC) climbed in Monday trading after agreeing to buy mortgages from Bank of America Corp (NYSE:BAC) as part of a legal settlement the banking giant made with Fannie Mae. The deal includes $93 billion of Fannie Mae-backed loan servicing rights. Walter Investment Management Corp (WAC) also said it has signed a deal to buy the mortgage-servicing platform of Metlife Inc (NYSE:MET).
Losers
SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ:SPWR) 7.63 -1.10 (-12.60%). SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ: SPWR) stock took off on news that MidAmerican Solar which is a Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK-B) subsidiary, purchased the 579-megawatt Antelope Valley Solar Projects
Cree, Inc.(NASDAQ:CREE) 31.80 -2.56 (-7.45%). Research analysts at Barclays Capital lifted their target price on shares of Cree (NASDAQ: CREE) from $28.00 to $33.00 in a report released on Monday. The firm currently has an “equal weight” rating on the stock.
Illumina, Inc.(NASDAQ:ILMN) 50.90 -3.86 (-7.06%). Shares of Illumina Inc. fell Monday after the genetic analysis instrument maker said it will buy the prenatal testing company Verinata Health Inc. in a deal worth up to $450 million.
Syntel, Inc. (NASDAQ:SYNT) 51.98 -3.68 (-6.61%). SYNT announced in Dec that it has revised guidance for fiscal 2012. The Company currently expects revenue in the range of $720-$722 million and EPS between $4.26 and $4.29 for fiscal 2012.
First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ:FSLR) 31.37 -2.22 (-6.60%). Intermolecular Inc. (IMI) and First Solar Inc. (FSLR) have agreed for two-year collaboration and licensing that focused on further increases to the conversion efficiency of First Solar’s cadmium telluride (CdTe) solar cell technology.
