CMK Gaming International, Inc. (CMKI) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CMK Gaming International, Inc. (CMKI) is a gaming company that seeks to capitalize on the high intensity, high excitement, of the Japanese game pachinko and expand its audience by developing new pachinko parlors in major cities across the United States.
CMKI, through its wholly owned subsidiary, currently owns and operates 3 pachinko parlors in Japan, and plans to begin by placing America`s first pachinko parlor in Salt Lake City, Utah then expanding its base operation into 10 new pachinko parlors in other major cities throughout the United States, the company`s Web site states.
What is pachinko Pachinko is a fast paced game of chance where a player fires balls into a machine, which then cascade down through a dense forest of pins. If the balls go into certain locations, they may be captured and sequences of events may be triggered that result in more balls being released, CMKI`s Web site states.
The object of the game is to capture as many balls as possible. These balls can then be exchanged for prizes. Pachinko machines were originally strictly mechanical, but modern ones have incorporated extensive electronics, becoming similar to video slot machines.
In 2013, the number of pachinko machines in Japan grew significantly from 167,438 in December 2012 to 613,159 in April 2013. Which meant that games sales numbers also saw a significant increase across the board for the entire year, according to CMKI`s Web site.
“The [company`s] first U.S. pachinko parlor should generate great interest and excitement within the Salt Lake City community,” said CMKI`s managing director, Shana Weiner in a Jul. 30 press release. “From there we plan to capitalize on the excitement of the pachinko parlors by strategically placing them in communities that seek exciting new entertainment venues.” CMKI engages U.K.-based game developer to publish mobile pachinko game Most recently, CMKI announced that it “engaged Route 1 Games, a U.K. game developer and publisher, to develop and publish a digital pachinko game for mobile phones and tablets.” According to an Aug. 5 press release, CMKI will allow players of its mobile game to win points and rewards that may be redeemed in its pachinko parlor being developed in its Salt Lake City location, and believes that its mobile game will help drive customers to its parlor and introduce players to the modern versions of pachinko that are available today in Japan.
“Since the announcement of our first U.S. pachinko parlor, there has been a growing amount of excitement surrounding our games, we hope this mobile app will provide customers a taste of what is in store when we open our pachinko parlor in Salt Lake City,” Weiner said in the Aug. 5 press release.
